Haze
日本産
Cultivars:
Saemidori • Okumidori & Others
Origin:
Kirishima, Kagoshima
Notes:
Elderflower • Raw Almond • Edamame

This Kagoshima blend opens with an elegant aroma reminiscent of elderflower, layered with a delicate hint of raw almond. When whisked, the floral notes remain soft and refined, gently unfolding into a comforting nuance reminiscent of edamame.

As usucha, it reveals a clear, composed sweetness with layered depth, carried by a subtle, velvety creaminess that quietly recalls dark chocolate.
In milk, the same profile remains, allowing the sweetness to become more pronounced.

The name "Haze" is inspired by the land of Kirishima, Kagoshima, where a misty mountain climate allows the tea leaves to grow slowly, gradually developing a natural richness and layered character.

We hope this blend offers a gentle glimpse into the quiet beauty of Kagoshima matcha.

"Haze"

Just like Grace and Jade, HAZE is such a perfect name for this tin. 🖤 Kind of unexpected because I always thought black tins were supposed to mean bold, rich, and deep. But what I forgot was to pay more attention to the name instead. 🫣 I’m the type who doesn’t read too much into a matcha’s profile when reviewing because I want to be truthful with what I actually taste and experience. So it took me a while to post this review. I was even worried I was drinking it without really getting its profile. Hahaha! But then again, Haze really is mysterious and takes a little time to reveal itself. 🌫️ I tried it as an usucha, oat milk latte, and full cream milk latte aka Meiji. 😬 Dry aroma: Green, nutty, slightly sweet and creamy. When whisked: It reminded me of boiled almonds. Usucha: My first sip was bitter, and I don’t handle bitterness very well. 😂 I added 8g agave and suddenly it became beautifully floral and sweet, with an edamame like note. The floral character lingered the most while the bitterness completely subsided. Oat milk latte: The notes became more tamed and harder to pinpoint, but after sitting for a while and diluting with ice, the floral and edamame like sweetness became more noticeable. Full cream latte: More creamy and almond forward. Again, the longer it sat, the more its character showed. This matchaaaa needs attention. 😂 It needs a little time to cure and bloom into something more flavorful. For me, Haze is best as an usucha. It’s so delicate and beautiful that milk can easily mask what makes it interesting. If you prefer it as a latte, I’d suggest using less milk than your usual ratio. Next time, I’m trying it with sparkling water or coconut water. 👀🍵 Ratios 🍵 Usucha 2g Haze 25g 75°C water to make a paste 50g cold water 8g agave 🥛 Latte 4g Haze 40ml 75°C water 90ml milk 8g agave Pinch of sea salt How was your Haze experience? 🌫️🍵

"Haze"

I think I've finally figured out why every Rebel Bunny review ends up being so long. I always tell myself, "This time I'll just leave a quick rating." Then I make a bowl, sit down with it, and somehow end up with another story instead. Haze was exactly that kind of matcha. Like the misty mountains it was named after, Haze doesn't reveal everything at once. It slowly unfolds with every sip, and that's exactly what kept me coming back. After a few days away from matcha, I was craving that first bowl more than anything, and somehow Haze felt like it had been waiting for me. Like I shared on my page, Haze is deeply savory in the best way possible. TThe aroma is delicate at first, carrying soft floral notes with a gentle nuttiness that quietly draws you in. Once whisked, the intense umami immediately takes center stage. And the color? I don't think I'll ever get over that vibrant green. From the powder to the whisked bowl, it stayed beautifully vivid. There’s a velvety richness that gives the cup incredible depth without ever feeling heavy. Even in a latte, its character never disappears. It confidently shines through from the first sip to the last. What I loved most wasn't just the flavor, though. It was the way Haze completely changed the pace of my morning. Haze woke up my curiosity. Every bowl made me pause a little longer, pay a little more attention, and appreciate all the tiny details that make great matcha feel so different from merely good matcha. That's probably my favorite thing about Rebel Bunny. I tried three different powders with three completely different personalities so far. Instead of asking which one is best, I've started asking, which one feels right today? I shared these thoughts with my little matcha community because I realized I'm no longer just recommending a matcha. I'm inviting people into an experience that unfolds one at a time. So thank you for making something that continues to give me stories worth telling. Every time I think I've finally understood Rebel Bunny, another variant reminds me there's still something new to discover. I suppose that's why I keep coming back.

The Haze blend by @rebelbunnymatcha is absolutely legendary for its mind-blowingly creamy texture and audaciously bold umami, savory profile. Seriously, this stuff glides across your palate like a silky dream, leaving behind a non-gritty finish that’s bursting with rich, nutty, and delightfully vegetal notes. It’s practically a superhero in the matcha world—versatile, forgiving, and perfect for even the most clueless beginners! 😎🐰😉 Flavor Profile and Tasting Notes: 🤤 Umami & Savory: Haze is a true umami experience, delivering a deep, savory flavor that’ll make your taste buds dance. This is no ordinary matcha—it’s a flavor sensation that’ll leave you breathless! 🧴 Texture: The soft, dense microfoam is a luxurious sensation in your mouth, as if sipping a cloud of matcha magic. 👅Bitterness & Astringency: Forget about bitterness—this beauty is as mellow as a Sunday morning. With little to no bitterness to ruin the party, the natural nutty and slightly grassy undertones just shine like the stars they are. 🍵As Usucha: When you whisk it with hot water, the savory and vegetal goodness comes alive, transforming your cup into a highly traditional and unbelievably pleasant drink that’ll make you feel like a matcha connoisseur in no time. 🥛As a Latte: Oh man, this is where Haze truly flexes its muscles. The thick, creamy goodness slices right through plant-based milks—be it oat, pistachio, or almond—without losing its identity. It’s a beautifully balanced, nutty masterpiece that’ll make you wonder why you ever settled for anything less. Overall, Haze is the ultimate ceremonial-quality matcha blend that’s perfectly suited for beginners and experts alike. Its unique umami flavor and complex, deep notes make it the go-to matcha choice for those who appreciate rich, nutty flavors over bright, fruity ones. Alright, guys, so I just tried this Mulberry Leaf Powder on my cream top, and let me tell you, it was a game-changer! I sprinkled it with a little bit of asin tibuok, and wow, it paired perfectly with the matcha. Seriously, this combo is my new fave right now! Give it a shot, you won’t regret it! 🥹😍
