I LOVE this Asahi cold whisked! It microfoams so beautifully and turns incredibly smooth and creamy. Its notes of chestnut, asparagus & melted butter made this such an interesting pairing with all the sweet, creamy flavors going on. I went full Filipino 🇵🇭 dessert mode Layered ube-mango biko at the bottom, lined the glass with ube + marshmallow. And yes, I used a chunky straw so I could get little bites of biko while drinking it. Whatever was left at the bottom became dessert. Sounds chaotic, but somehow it WORKED.

Asahi quickly became one of those matchas I looked forward to drinking. It’s incredibly smooth with a rich, buttery character that feels both comforting and elegant. The chestnut sweetness comes through beautifully, and every bowl felt balanced from start to finish. I finished my first cup already thinking about when I wanted the next one.

Asahi is a quiet kind of captivating. The first thing I noticed was its unmistakably vegetal character, softened by a gentle chestnut warmth. Then came that silky, almost melted-butter texture—rich, but never heavy. What stayed with me most, though, was the pleasant bitterness at the finish. It gives the matcha just enough edge to keep all that creaminess from becoming too comfortable. I usually find myself drawn to nutty, umami-rich matchas, so Asahi felt familiar in some ways, yet completely distinct in others. Layered, quietly complex, and incredibly composed. The kind of matcha that makes you pause between sips because there’s always another little detail to notice.

I’m obsessed with the new look and colors of this release!!! And honestly, any matcha coming out of Kyoto already has my attention, but Asahi is on another level. 😮💨🍵 The flavor notes?? chestnut + asparagus + melted butter??? HELLO??? Say less, baby. The savory, nutty, buttery depth of this matcha is just SO good and makes every sip feel rich, complex, and seriously special. This is the kind of matcha that makes you pause mid-sip like… wait, what did y’all put in here??? 😭🫶🏻 Yeah. This is the real deal.
